I'm Thankful For...

I certainly won't get any time the rest of this week to write this down, so I wanted to do it now as a "Happy Thanksgiving" Hoorah.

This year, here are just a few things I am thankful for...

Ella Fitzgerald
secret doors and passageways
unexpected phone calls
overstuffed sandwiches
railroad stations
big, ironed white cloth napkins
foods that look juicy
kids selling lemonade
flirting
a plethora of pillows
conversations on paper
pay-day
double dares
spiral staircases
being the first person to look at pictures just developed
library ladders
empty parking spaces right up front
balloon animals
sleepy dogs
well worn stone steps
that vacation feeling
paranormal phenomenon
organizing
whispering
old photos
new sandals
de ja vu
county fairs
inside jokes
buck teeth
groves of lemon trees
the many buttons on the washer that give me choices to make me feel important
bizarre fireplace tools whose function nobody knows
AND...
When your ship finally comes in!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Cute Hair Day

Had to share ;)

Not our typical Evening

Tonight was an unusual night for the Walkers. Dance class was cancelled...so instead of cloggers running in and out of the house, Ivy screaming cause she wants to go dance, Addie crying because I can't giver her attention, a pizza in the oven cause I don't have time to cook a real dinner, me running to answer the door and the phone and running to control parking...we did this: Robbie relaxed on the couch. Ivy colored in her high chair with "buckeys". (markers) Addie enjoyed her toys. And mom cooked a stew. (which was a lot less yellow than it appears in this picture) It was a good night! This must be what normal families experience...

Am I allowed to even share this picture?

So...I was trying to unload the dishwasher and Ivy was underfoot. So, I put her up the stove while I unloaded it (watching her very carefully of course). I kept handing dishes out of the dishwasher to her to keep her busy. And when I handed my breast pump to her...this is what she did.

Why won't she mimick me doing things like the laundry? ;)

As I was doing the dishes, and cleaning the house and folding the laundry today I was thinking...

When did Addie have her last feeding?
Does Ivy have all the winter clothes she needs?
Why does Ivy keep getting that rash on her neck?
Is Addie warm enough in her cradle?
When was Ivy's last bowel movement? Do I need to give her some juice?
When are Ivy's books due back at the library?
What am I going to fix the family for dinner?
How can I get Addie to go down for the night earlier?

And then it hit me...

What did I used to think about?

Firsts...

First French braids!!! 1 year, 5 months, and 20 days old. First pigtail!!! 6 weeks, and 1 day old. I promise Addie's not upset about her hair...

Game night

Deck of Pinochle cards : $2.34

Orange Julius : $1.89 Robbie having to drink his out of a huge straw because of a killer canker sore : Priceless

It was fun! We should do it again!

Sisters

I get this question a LOT... "How does Ivy like having a sister?" About this much. :)

Cleaning out the storage room

Mom - remember this dress?

Who is Who?

F'real. So cute right? How can two babies look so different and exactly the same all at once?

Abuelita

Grandma tiny and the beautiful afghan she made for Addie.

Precious.

Can't. Get. Enough.

New skirt

I made this skirt for Ivy with a little help from my sewing expert friend Steph. (Thanks Steph!)

When I asked Ivy to show off her new skirt, this is what she did.

I even have enough material left over to make a matching one for Addie. Enough time? We'll see...

Often times...

Often times you can find these looks on Addie and Ivy's faces.

Is this how I should measure my success as a mom? Because they just look so happy...
